THE DEVOTION OF SUSPECT X by KEIGO HIGASHINO | Book Thoughts

Book Name: The Devotion Of Suspect X

Author: Keigo Higashino

Publisher: Hachette India

Genre: Crime, Mystery

Summary:
Yasuko, a single parent, works at a lunch box shop. Ishigami is a talented Mathematics teacher, who lives next door to Yasuko and her daughter Misato. Things turn evil when Togashi, Yasuko's ex-husband, turns up to ask her money.
This leads to a series of unexpected events, which change their complete lives altogether.
What happened on that night? And how did it intertwine with Ishigami's life, forms the rest of the story.

My Thoughts:

  • This book has all the ingredients for a perfectly plotted Crime Mystery.
  • The detailed descriptions of Yasuko and Ishigami's daily life, at the starting of the book, creates a beautiful world, as if it's happening in front of us.
  • All the characters are well written and intricately designed so that the reader will not have any questions unanswered.
  • The characters are connected in beautifully designed plots.
  • The ending has come out as a bit of a shock to me. Even though the story is clearly written, the reader would never have expected the story to end in the manner it did.
  • Few parts of the book make us question ourselves, if a person really could do that much for their love for another person.

Rating: 5🌟
