How To Deal With Anxiety?

 You might've heard from many people that they're suffering from Anxiety. So, we'll first try to understand what exactly is Anxiety.

Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome.

In lay man's terms, Anxiety is nothing but a feeling of uncertainty which increases with time, until a point where a person doesn't have control over his emotions.

Anxiety might be triggered due to a big event, or a series of stressful events. It can be due to the death of your loved ones, work stress, or based on your everyday emotional on-goings. It can happen to you once, or more that that depending on the intensity of the situation.

I, myself have faced several instances where my anxiety levels have increased, due to work pressure, or personal issues. 

You can deal with Anxiety in a positive way, if you follow few things. So, today we'll discuss about 8 things you can do from your side, to deal with Anxiety.

1. Regular Exercise:

Exercise is very important for your physical, as well as your mental health. So, try to incorporate a couple of exercises 3-4 times a week. Try some deep breathing exercises. It changes your brain cells, which in turn help in reducing Anxiety.

2. Reduce your Caffeine and Alcohol Intake:

Cut down or avoid your Caffeine and Alcohol intake as much as you can. And remember that coffee is not the only beverage having Caffeine in it, tea, chocolates, and few medicines also have Caffeine in them.

3. Distract Yourself:

Try distracting yourself by doing something which you enjoy. For Example, talk to your friend, read a book, go for a walk, try gardening etc. I highly suggest reading 'Notes on a Nervous Planet' by Matt Haig.

4. Spend time with Friends and Family:

I can't insist enough on how much spending time with friends and family will help. By doing this, you feel happy and you get a sense of being.

5. Schedule your worry time:

Doctors actually recommend that you take out time to think about your worries on purpose. Try to understand what makes you anxious, and identify what you can do about it.

6. Have a good sleep:

There is nothing in this world which cannot be cured by a good sleep. Try to sleep for an average of 8 hrs a night. Try to maintain a sleep schedule and keep your mobiles aside atleast 15-20 mins before you sleep.

7. Meditation:

How exercises are good for the physical health, meditation is as important for your mental health. Try meditation 3-4 times a week, and try to understand how it is affecting your health.

8. Keep a Diary:

Make note of what happens whenever you get anxious. It'll help you in finding patterns in what triggers your anxiety, or notice any early signs that they are beginning to happen.
